Baby's 1st Birthday!

Whether you're planning an intimate gathering of friends and family or an all-out bash, your baby's first birthday celebration is bound to be special — at least for you, the other adults and older kids in the baby's life!

Yes, a first birthday party is really for parents and their guests. Your baby won't remember this party, and may even be overwhelmed by it. But that doesn't mean you can't all have fun.

The amount you spend is up to you, and depends on what kind of party you want to have for your child. Keep in mind that food is the main thing that drives costs up, followed by decorations and the cake. Don't feel pressured to spend more than you can afford — small is beautiful at this age!

Grooms Cake

Originally Wedding cakes were traditionally white cake and Groom's cakes were added to give an option to cake flavors, usually chocolate cake. The Groom's cake eventually evolved into fun cakes as a way for the Groom to have his own special part of the Reception or even the rehearsal dinner.

The cake often hints at some aspect of the Groom’s personality or interests. If the Groom loves football,  the cake can be something football oriented like a football or his favorite teams'  field or logo. If music is his interest, then possibly a instrument or sheet music would bean ideal cake option. … endless possibilities!
The bride usually orders the Groom’s cake from the same baker who is providing the wedding cake. If the Groom was in on the original decision, the Bride can contact the bakery for an additional designing appointment to order the cake.

The Bride usually keeps the design of the cake a secret until the wedding day or rehearsal dinner.

Some grooms prefer to order the Groom’s cake themselves, keeping it a secret from the Bride, depicting how they first met , where they were engaged, something that is meaningful to them both. Either way, the Groom’s cake can be a fun part of the wedding celebration.
Serving the Groom’s cake at the rehearsal dinner as the dessert or to display both the wedding cake and the Groom’s cake at the wedding are both acceptable ways to present the Grooms Cake.

Wedding Cakes

Weddings are full of traditions, one such tradition is the wedding cake.

A Wedding Cake is a traditional cake that is served to the guests usually at the wedding reception. They are often made from several layers or tiers and are beautifully decorated.

The wedding cake decorations can be anything from colored icing to ribbons but the traditional wedding cake is a three tiered round cake with a mousse filling, white icing and a miniature model of the bride and groom on top (known as a wedding cake topper). Of course, today there is a huge variety of wedding cakes available to suit the Bride’s tastes and wedding themes.

We invite you to follow us on facebook and to browse our website www.ccsweetsensations.com and find everything you need to help you chose your cake. We offer free cake tastings and consultations. We look forward to meeting with you!

Comic Book Party Topsy Turvey cake

Happy 50th Birthday Reese & Robert!!

wedding cake cutting guide

This guide shows how to cut popular shaped wedding tiers into pieces approximately 1 in. x 2 in. by two layers high (about 4 in.). Even if a larger serving size is desired, the order of cutting is still the same. The first step in cutting is to remove the top tier, and then begin the cutting with the 2nd tier followed by the 3rd, 4th and so on. The top tier is usually saved for the first anniversary, so it is not calculated into the serving amount.
The number of servings listed are intended as a guide only and offer a small portion of wedding cake. If cake is the only dessert and/or portions larger than 1”x2” are served, then you will have less servings than the chart indicates.

Round Tiers:
Move in two inches from the tier's outer edge; cut a circle and then slice 1 in. pieces within the circle. Now move in another 2 in., cut another circle, slice 1 in. pieces and so on until the tier is completely cut. The center core of each tier and the small top tier can be cut into 3rds, 4ths, and 6ths, depending on size.
Square Tiers:
Move in 2 in. from the outer edge and cut across. Then slice 1 in. pieces of cake. Now move in another 2 in. and slice again until the entire tier is cut.

How to freeze Wedding cake

If you are like most couples, you want to follow the tradition of freezing the top layer of your wedding cake in order to eat it on your first anniversary. Freezing the cake is relatively simple, but you have to do it in a way that keeps it fresh for a whole year.

  • 1
Remove the top layer of cake from the rest of the cake, and remove the cake topper or anything else that isn't edible.

  • 2
Refrigerate the cake overnight in order to firm up the icing.

  • 3
Wrap the cake in plastic wrap or press n seal wrap and make sure the cake is thoroughly covered. I like to cover it 2x.

  • 4
Place the wrapped cake in freezer bags. If you want to be extra safe, you may want to double bag the cake.

  • 5
Use a vacuum sealer or even a straw to suck out the excess air from the bags. Any oxygen left in the bag will start to suck moisture from your cake.

  • 6
Place the wrapped/bagged cake into the large plastic bag.

  • 7
Place the bag wrapped cake in the freezer, and do not disturb for one year.
